"There is a lot of stuff in the summer, from top to bottom, which needs to change and I mean that because I don’t want to go through another season like this. We need to spend money in the summer. We have a good core of players but we need another 3-4 more good ones."
Is that the sound of a gauntlet being thrown down to the chairmen? ;hmm
Arnautovic on Moyes: "He told me if you don't work hard, you won't play and it made it click in my head so if you see my stats you will see I run a lot. Yes, of course I would like him to stay. He has done a great job but it is not my decision."
Pellegrini is getting paid £200k a week in China. I'm not saying it's impossible but I'd be surprised if he's thinking of giving that up to come to London
I would suggest the £200k a week he's been getting since he moved out there means money is probably not a primary motivator in his next move. Maybe now his pension pot is looking ridiculously healthy he fancies another crack in the PL ;hmm
According to La Marca he's wanted by Sevilla who are currently 7th in La Liga (Europa League), were runners up in the Copa del Rey and quarter finalists in the Champions League despite sacking two managers this season.
He had five seasons with Villarreal, one season with Real Madrid and three seasons at Malaga but failed to win anything in Spain.
Getting Pellegrini would be amazing but if he's going to leave China I suspect he'd prefer a team with a chance of playing in Europe and that isn't going to be us for a few seasons
Latest BBC article quoting Moyes is, IMO, unfortunately more about Moyes from Moyes.
Attributes our survival to the transition of Arnie to the center from the wing and the bravery of taking the team away following the fan protest.
It is my recollection that the trip was not in response to the protest but a happy coincidence as it would have had to have been on the schedule, (in fairness they still went which was the right thing to do) he then goes on to state that people thought that West Ham were taking a risk bringing him in, when in fact it was he that was taking the risk when he agreed to lead a team in the bottom three.
It may be true that he deserves some credit for orchestrating Arnie’s switch, it just seems unfortunate to me that he feels the need to say so himself.
I disagree chicago. An awful lot of fans didn't want him in the first place and it was considered a risk in employing him. There was also a lot of criticism of the trip to Florida amidst the fans issues, but he took them anyway, and he does deserve all the credit in moving Arnie.

He was actually about the 'turning points' in the season, as far as I can tell from what the BBC article says. And the direct quote is "The other point was the game against Burnley when the supporters ran on the pitch," said Moyes. He continues... 'the players pulled together and since we came back we picked up some really good points.'
PS, I agree he was taking a risk joining us. With 2 bad things most recently on his CV, if we had been relegated on his watch that would most likely have finished him in management.
Sill can’t work out if I want him to stay or not....it’s driving me nuts!!
I’ve got this funny feeling with a decent spend in the summer he may get us easily top 10 and possibly pushing higher, and not boring football but a bit more EFC like....
Rumours of Pellegrini today, would take him though, hasn’t finished outside the top 7 of any team in his last few appointments - that would be a step in the right direction imo
I was pro Moyes on his appointment and with him most of the way but he all but lost me with the line up against Stoke, which I thought was disappointing to say the least. Now I'm a meh!
Mind, whoever we have in charge next season needs to be financially supported by the board.
Maybe I am being a little harsh, but in my mind the tone of his responses were more about him
I get that quotes can be taken slightly out of context but I baulked at the point where he is quoted as saying that he did not think it was a risk for West Ham to take him on and that it was he that was taking the risk.
I certainly agree that there was jeopardy for him as he was entering the last chance saloon, but I would have equally thought that he should recognize the risk that we took on him as his reputation was pretty much in tatters.
As for the trip, I felt and said at the time that I really thought it fortunate that the trip immediately followed the unrest as, despite the fans reaction, going away was certainly the right thing to do and I doubt that the board, or anyone, would have been brave enough to arrange such a trip in the immediate aftermath.

There weren't any teams lining up for his services so not much of a risk on his part IMHO.
I think somebody like Pellegrini would need to overhaul the squad and the mentality of the players in a way that I think is beyond us financially.
I therefore wonder if Moyes is a better fit for the club, personnel and resources at the moment.
However, if Moyes does leave, I’ll always be grateful for the short job he’s done, holding the club together and keeping us up, and getting the best out of Arnie, who’s been the best player to watch in a West Ham shirt since Payet in Bilic’s first season.
I don’t think he’ll struggle to get another PL job and if it isn’t a basket case like Sunderland he’ll do well.

Some of us have got longer memories and can think of alot more deserving candidates for that honour. ;ok

Since David Moyes succeeded Slaven Bilic, West Ham have earned five PL points more than Rafa Benitez's Newcastle Utd.

The Mirror are running with it. Although with a slightly more tempered tone.

It's 3 more than Newcastle, and only 5 less than Burnley.
League table taking games from when Moyes took over:
That points average would have got us to 44 points over a season.

It comes from a radio interview, so they may not have given the full picture, or the correct context for those comments.
I think the 'bravery' comment refers to the fact that the board were minded to call off the trip.
Not sure what Moyes can do when he is asked questions, other than answer honestly.

I am getting over it...
He took a massive performance based deal which carried a lot of risk.
And the club only supposedly paid £10k a week unless performance was delivered, which monetarily in isolation, is zero risk.
