I was waiting for that kind of response! We should be aiming higher and aspire to be competing with the likes of Everton and as you can see from the league, which is based on facts we aren't, so I see no reason why you can't use their expectations as a benchmark for ours. ;ok
I have said so before, I think he should be given a new contract. He has been firefighting so far and it is always going to be a different approach if you are in that position. However, despite fighting relegation he has managed to bring in two youngsters (Rice/Fernandes) at least one of whom has been earning decent reviews. The defeat at Arsenal was undeserved and with a little more luck we could be beyond the 40 point mark already.
The only thing that bothers me is the amount of big defeats. But I honestly believe that that will get better next season.
If he doesn't improve over the next season, fine, but he deserves a chance at the real thing.
I seem to remember that Everton under Moyes were notoriously slow starters at the start of the season. After this season, if he stays, and if that happens to us in August, I can see the knives being out very early and that won't help anyone. ;hmm
In Moyes defence he has kept faith with Declan after a difficult few games. Brave thing to do when facing mahrez and Vardy. We don’t know of course if he would have done this had ginge been available but nonetheless it would have done Declan’s confidence the world of good knowing his manager had full trust in him
I have no idea whether I still want Moyes to carry on next season. There are pros and cons for me:
Positives
Kept us up (with two games to spare) Giving Declan lots of games, even after mistakes Getting the best out of Arnie Harder to beat (overall, though when we get beat, man do we get beat) He is always looking up the table rather than down No nonsense with players/egos Continuity is usually healthy for a club, particularly with the unrest at the moment Not sure who else the club can attract/the owners would fancy who would do a better job At our best, I like the way we've played with Arnie, Lanzini, Masuaku on the ball, more so than any time under Bilic post-Payet
Negatives
When we get beat, we tend to get pummelled Low win percentage Not the best transfer window (Mario's been okay, Hugill was pointless) Substitutions always seem odd/late Lack of game time for Hernandez
Hugill was a pointless signing. The thing is, nobody is going to pay us the same money we signed him for. A striker who doesn't play, never mind one who doesn't score.
The big question for me is whether, realistically, there is another proven manager who is available and willing to come to us. Benitez would be a better option than Moyes IMO but happy with Moyes rather than taking a significant risk with someone who has not managed in the PL. I do hope the owners really invest in the summer or we will be going nowhere regardless of who the manager is.
Random stat. 'The Hammers have scored in their past 11 away league games - their longest scoring run in the top flight since December 1966 (14 games).'
Barney is right. Who else is there waiting in the wings ? 4 years ago we knew Bilic was a possibility, and even Benitez at one moment. Now there is nobody obvious or even obscure who might be interested, other than an overseas manager we have never heard off. Keep Moyes - if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Last time we tried to get a manager in the summer we ended up with our fourth choice which means we might not be that attractive proposition to decent managers
On that point Suze, I think the worst situation would be that the board don't appoint him and then waste time before appointing a replacement. Whoever is in charge need to have a good look at the team to decide who they want to keep, who goes and who they want to bring in.
If they leave it too long we will be struggling to get anyone again and Sully will have his mitts all over the transfers. I have visions of several players from the teams being relegated coming to us (and not the better ones).
Don't want to alarm you, but according to C&H (I know, I know...) a decision won't be made until June.
It will be at that meeting in June when a decision will be made on the the manager’s future and it is certainly no ‘given’ that – despite securing the team’s Premier League survival – he will get the ‘gig.’
Possibly, Mrs G. But what will that say about their opinion of Moyes? If they want him, give him a deal now. If they don't, get rid and offer their man whatever he wants.
I'm pretty sure they'd have been sounding out managers since January, so should have an idea by now as to who might be available.
Delaying this, and by extension our transfer dealings, could end up hurting us a lot.
A lot of this will depend on how much new money the board are willIng to set aside for square improvement. Surely they would have pretty much decided what this is by now?
IMO this is why a DOF was a key appointment that should have been made already. There is a big question mark over the managers future, which will affect transfer dealings. We need to have a vision for the future of the side in terms of playing style and personnel, so that we don't have to get the manager sorted to shape that. With an effect DOF we could be already making moves in the market.

2 of Moyes previous clubs.
I would like him to stay, is he getting a fair say in players to buy?
If not ,,,,, it does not matter Whois runthe1st team
But I don't care what Everton fans do or don't expect. If you do, that's your choice.

Nothing to apologise for. You have a different view to me, that's all.
They back up my view that Bilic should have stayed.
I still miss Slav.
I don’t want him personally but the board needs to be decisive.
Oh and I’ve changed my mind and done a total 180, I’d like Raffa Benitez. I’m sure he’s well chuffed at the thought of my endorsement.

If (and given the source, it's a big 'if'), that's true, I'd be very unimpressed.
