  • Should it be true and he has left at least all parties can be quite happy. We stayed up and relegation would have been a disaster, Moyes has no doubt at least repaired if not quite fully restored his reputation which was pretty much in tatters after relegation last season, as well as he and his team receiving their bonus payments for keeping us up. No one can be left unsatisfied with that I feel.
  • I’m unsatisfied with it.
  • When Sam left despite the Daves having targets it was around mid June that they eventually got the only person who wanted the job ie Slav.
We simply can't afford to mess around like that this time.
  • I have heard this from a very reliable source - Malaga sporting director coming in with Pellegrini as manager.

From a rumours, yes I know it a rumours site, that I keep tabs on. ;ok

Mike Ashley seems like a dream to work for compare to our lot

How? He’s as outspoken and farcical as our owners (if not more so) but spends less money.
He barely says a word, it’s the people he’s employed to run the club that have messed up time after time (makes him accountable) .....spends less money? He’s loaned them way more and doesn’t charge interest either. £129m

Sully hasn't been heard of since the Burnley game

Nooooo. You weren’t supposed to say it out loud.
  • Malaga are rock bottom of the Spanish league!
  • c&bsky,

Shouldn't feel out of place with us then! ;lol

What’s their net spend this season? Without researching, it seems very low.

And he confirmed in an interview recently that there isn’t any more money to spend and he’s trying to sell the club.
  • I’m not sure we can play worst owners with Newcastle, neither are desirable.
  • Mike Ashley seems to always say he will back the manager at the end of each season and allow them to spend BIG but then does the opposite. Who else does that I wonder?
  • Not Sure Pellegrini will survive here. Doesn't seem to be the type of guy who would need to be ruthless in situations when needed. Seems very much like a "Yes Man".
  • Yeold,

Don't say that too loud as that appears to be just the manager the two Davids and Karen Brady like.
  • Fonseca interviewed today according to Lee Clayton in the Mail.
  • I know I'm probably the only one who cares about this, but I was interested in the attacking effectiveness chart I posted earlier. I just put in our shots per game and shots per goal from when Squawka started (2012/13) to now, and mapped it on the chart.

What I find interesting is that under Moyes, we have been our most clinical of any time in the past 6 seasons. Obviously we would rather be 'Constant Threat' than anything else, so it's fair to say that the first Bilic season was our best going forward. But all of our other seasons were extremely wasteful.

I was going to look at the defensive effectiveness too, but I can't see any shots conceded stats to hand so I'm going to not bother.
  • Benitez is the top candidate and has a £6m release clause which we are willing to pay, according to Graeme Bailey on Sky. Emery is also due to hold talks next week according to Sam Inkersole.
  • The last Shakhtar manager turned out well.
  • So all in all, we are looking at middle of June, before they announce the next manager, right at the start of the World Cup. Then we only have a few weeks after before the season starts. I'm not sure we will have a enough time to sign anybody of note.
  • Also according to Sky they held talks with Moyes but told him it is unlikely they'll offer him the job. Presumably they also told him to not accept any other offers just in case, as usually happens, nobody else wants to work with them.
  • BBC saying that Moyes is walking!
  • No doubt the truth will come out soon although Moyes did what was asked I can’t see what job he believes he could walk into maybe Newcastle when Rafa comes to us least he be working for other idiots so be used to it, don’t feel sad he’s going but wouldn’t have been unhappy if he’d stayed

Looking back to November, it was widely reported and thought that Moyes had been appointed on a 2.5 year deal with the option to terminate at the end of the season. Was that actually not right? Because Moyes himself has said that his contract ended on Sunday night? So in fact it was only ever a short term contract? ;hmm
  • I’m just being confused by the facts now.

    Moyes in ;puzzled
  • it was reported as a 2.5 year contract with a 6 month break clause.
  • If that's correct and he is the one who has decided to break then it suggests that the board aren't really that willing to change.
  • Well he hasn't said he's gone, nor have the club, so who knows?
  • Bit surprised

Dont mind too much as long as G&S have someone to come in imminently as we cant afford to waste time

If they really are after Rafa it makes sense, theyve wanted hin for ages and imo hes the right type of appointment

If that's correct and he is the one who has decided to break then it suggests that the board aren't really that willing to change.

It's also been reported at a 6th month deal based on a direct quote from the manager, so it probably isn't correct.

Asked when his West Ham contract officially expires, Moyes said: “Midnight, I think. I’ll take my suit off at midnight okay, undo my tie a little bit…be back on the streets come midnight!” (Telegraph)
  • It's more important that we get the right manager as to when we get him.
