West Ham v Watford, Tuesday 8th Feb 19:45, BT Sport

Be interesting to see what West Ham turn up for this winnable banana skin of a game. Will Watford under the new stewardship of Roy Hodgson be a hard nut to crack or will they be a soft touch.
Usual starting XI for us, assuming Zouma is fit, should see a comfortable home win, but you know.......

    Areola/Fabianski
    Johnson - Dawson - Zouma - Cresswell
    Rice - Soucek
    Bowen - Fornals - Benrahma
    Antonio

If Diop plays I’d be tempted to go to a back 3 with Cresswell to the left & Dawson in the centre.
  • Yarma needs to start imo.
  • Watford drew 0-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday although Burnley doesn't score or concede many and Watford doesn't score many

Hodgson played a 4-4-2 rather than 4-3-3 preferred by Ranieri

We will win because it's my birthday tomorrow

Ex says Zouma has gone for further scans as it was the knee he has history with.

I’d be tempted to go for Rice at CB for a half & then Alese for the second depending how game is going.
  • Just got to hope that Zouma is fit. Diop is having something of a crisis at the moment and really hinders the team when he plays.

On paper it should be a comfortable win, but we've not been on it for the last three games so we can't go into it with any complacency at all.

    Areola
    Coufal Dawson Zouma Cresswell
    Rice Soucek
    Bowen Fornals Benrahma
    Antonio

Fab, Johnson, Alese, Masuaku, Noble, Kral, Vlasic, Lanzini, Perkins/Oko-Flex

Bowen, Benrahma and Zouma played 120 minutes, even if Zouma wasn't doubtful with his knee I suspect Moyes would rest them.

    Fabianski???
    Coufal Dawson Diop Cresswell
    Rice Soucek
    Vlasic Lanzini Fornals
    Antonio

We played Dawson and Diop when we won 4-1 at Watford in Decmember
  • So they played 30 minutes longer than the Watford players on Saturday night. Given that for the most part on Saturday most of our players strolled or stood around so Watford probably put far more effort in.

Fab and Zouma need to play if available and you can't drop your top scorer who is on a good run of goals.

    Fabianski (Areola)
    Coufal Dawson Zouma (Diop) Cresswell
    Rice Soucek
    Bowen Lanzini Fornals
    Antonio

    3-1 Hammers.

  • Drop Diop give one of the kids a chance.
  • Bowen's alright. Don't you know that he keeps fit running in paddy fields?
  • Fabianski

    Johnson Dawson Zouma (Alese) Cresswell

    Rice Soucek

    Bowen Fornals Benrahma

    Antonio
  • No mention of the injury to Zouma by Moyes in his presser; he says Masuaku needs to see a specialist (knee) and Lanzini needs time to recover (Achilles). Also says he hopes Antonio will be available after returning from international duty.
  • To bad about Lanzini ,Our bench will look week still theres always yarmo just waiting to be unleased =)

Terrific. Transfer window hasn't even been closed for a week and we're two players down and have doubts over Zouma.

    Ammendment

I thought his name was Sonny =)
  • Would have started with Lanzini rather than Benny and most definitely than Vlasic, so Benny in, he at least looked semi decent on Saturday.

Chesters or Okoflex for Yarmo please - time to see if there is real potential or whether we need to go shopping in the Summer..
  • Dodger, I am surprised there is any need of evidence we need to go shopping in the Summer!
  • Fortune I agree in some cases, but why get in a replacement if you have a home grown talent already there. Most of us love to see home grown players get the chance, but if they don't get on the pitch how can they show they are capable.

We hear a lot about the high regard for Alese and Baptiste, but if we buy in two more centre backs, they are unlikely to get the opportunity to prove their ability at the highest level - they already appear to have proven it at U23. They will end up leaving the club so we will have 'wasted' the investment made in them.

So yes, before we spend, I'd rather see whether the youngsters have got what it takes - not all together, but to be fed more than 2 minutes at the end of each match!

That does make sense Dodger but we would have needed see the evidence they are ready to do the job just as we did with Rice a couple of years ago and Johnson more recently. The evidence at present says Moyes doesn't think they are ready yet, or up to it as every time we need bring on someone or start someone he chooses Yarmalenko.

I am all for giving them a go, Saturday looked the prefect opportunity.
  • Yeah, it's difficult to know whether the U23s are good enough given the level they're playing at, but it certainly seems like Moyes is far from convinced.

Alese, Ashby and Oko-Flex should have played instead of Diop, Fredericks and Yarmolenko on Saturday IMO, but none got a kick. Maybe had the starting XI not been horrendous, they may have got minutes, but I can't see any of the U23s getting a game now. PL opposition in the Cup, knock-out stages of the EL and competing for top six in the league means Moyes will almost certainly go for experience, even if it's someone on the way out of the club, over youth.
  • C&H says Zouma is fit
  • He's fit he's fit and don't he know it...
  • Alese to start over Diop

Dunno if there is a worse CB in the prem on current form, he is a calamity week in week out and is a shell of a player, literally gets dominated every game and has countless mistakes in him

And no Yarmo in the squad, let Oxo-Flex, Chesters, Perkins get a chance
  • I beg to differ, that Turkish centre back at Leicester is pretty awful.

He was really good when he first came and he’s fully gone off the rails
