My triple captain (played in GW4) resulted in 6 points. So picking Sterling wasnt too bad, no? Hes still got another game vs Everton too so it could turn out to be inspired...
(He's currently got the most valuable team in FF, but only has 687 points ;lol He made 20 transfers one week - clearly it's player trading #adifferentgame )
Yes, the gist is to buy/sell with anticipated values in mind (alongside bringing in players you actually feel will do well, not just for the sake of knowing someone will rise over one or two weeks just for a profit)
Last GW I brought Aguero in for Aubamyyang anticipating Aguero's price would rise and Aubameyangs would fall. So I got in early in the GW before both happened. Sure enough, because of his double GW Agueros price went up (and with them being similarly priced and Auba playing City away a lot of others would have traded those players too). My thoughts, even before the GW ended were to TF out Aguero (again in anticipation of his fall in popularity because he was playing chelsea followed by an empty GW whilst Auba had four good fix in a row and he tends to beat up lower opposition). As soon as the GW ended I bought in Auba for a his new lower price and sold Aguero.
Everything seemed right. Auba would score lots against Huddersfield, Southampton etc whilst Aguero would toil against Chelsea then have no game, simple! Agueros heavy scoring points allied to Auba illness saw that spectacularly backfire (Sometimes you dont get the luck ;weep ). For me, the logic was sound and I knew I couldnt have both of them so Agueros lack of GW was crucial.
You cant win 'em all. The point is though, unlike the 220 TF guy, at least some thought and justification goes into the many TFs and the upside, if you do most of them right, you have more funds as the season goes by.
Over the last few weeks I've come to realize that I'm on a run that entails whoever I put in or leave out comes back to bite me (The Aguero out for Aubameyang being a notable example). Whether its back luck or bad judgement or both, I've decided to mentally not stress about it. That applies to Sterling and Arnie not playing and seeing Rashford on the bench after binning him off for Rondon (who I should know from the past is a player who never scores when I'm dumb enough to Tf him in)
So I figure, as I sink, it'll either change back or it won't and I'll just have to enjoy making TFs and not concern myself with the -4 or -8 they entail.
For me, being at the top for a long time and seeing a lead cut and chances to increase lead dashed several times, I tried to control how many TFs I did but nothing seemed to work (injuries, illness, bench scoring well instead of first 1, TF outs doing well and TF ins looking like they've never scored ;lol ).
Thinking philosophically, I'll do what I think best and if it works great. If not, then I have to legislate that I just didn't see the right thing(s) to do.
Maybe I'm a Liverpool who's had plenty of ten points clear chances and now sits a point ahead and is struggling for the creativity and scoring chances I had earlier in the season whilst juggernaut Man Citys are waiting in the wings ;wink ;weep
Now in a quandary.... Trent AA is first on my bench now has 2 assists. Sterling in my team and on the City bench will only come on if West Ham are keeping City out. If they go two or three up, why bring on Sterling and not rest him for the ninety with the weekend and Euro fix approaching.
I wonder what'll happen ;lol
Answers on a postcard
1/2 favourite - Sterlng comes on for the last two minutes (whilst Trent keeps a clean sheet and I dont get 11points + bonus he'll get)
Evens - Sterling comes on after 65 minutes, prances around and doesnt score more than 1 point.
3/1 - Sterling stays on bench
20/1 - Sterling comes on and gets injured after 5 minutes
100/1 Sterling comes on and Trent gets 2 assists and 2 goals and I dont make another TF for the rest of the season

You know it makes sense, Rodney.
Until it doesn't ;doh
My one bright spark is Sigurdsson getting a brace. Makes up for the weeks and weeks of 2 points.
I'm like you - decided not to stress. Mid-table safety, so just enjoy it - maybe give a few youngsters a go ;whistle
