I do not know anyone who is happy with the potential signing of Wilson, the optics and messaging is all wrong imo
He would be a decent option for a recently relegated side looking to get back up but not one for a team supposedly looking to build a force capable of challenging for higher office within the top division
I am happy for the sole reason that we do not have the money to get ayoung striker if we are to fill the other positions. We need some choices up front for next season and he may be the best we can get
Maybe Callum Wilson is a one season stop gap to cover Fullkrug in case he gets injured while we give Callum Marshall time to.develop or to bring in another striker next summer
A long term plan rather than looking at just this season
I’m hopeful that Marshall will be a good player for us, but to have him as our only striker alternative feels like a risk and a lot of pressure on a youngster. The guy has potential, but he only scored 9 goals in League One last year.
I don’t want Callum Wilson, but I would like us to have at least one other striker option, just in case. If Wilson’s that guy then I’ll be underwhelmed, but so be it.

And there in lies the divide
He didnt have the season we just had to sign Wilson, not even 2 steps back but prepares for Relegation, that's the calibre callum wilson brings
Apart from 11 minutes in a meaningless Champions League Group stage match where he touched the ball twice and completed one out of two passes Cummings has never played above the Scottish equivalent of the Conference
Think he might need a couple of years with the U21s
Market value is what the market pays for something, not what we decide we should be paid. Had we kept hold of him, his value might have gone down amd we could easily have had an unmotivated player on our books. Just remember how Defoe worked out.

I am guessing he is on a wage with bonuses.
I would rather we play Marshall or Cummings if Fullkrug gets injured.

But I would still prefer Cummings
Ex, Hammers Chat and C&H reckon we're after Villa's Jacob Ramsey
Seems Villa have their own PSR problems and even sold the women's team to it's own holding company in a bit of creative accountancy
Just remember how Defoe worked out.
