Couldn't think....part 4

  • Going back to the "Brain dead " chanters on the plane. If the crew took a note of where they were sitting then hopefully they'll be easy to trace and slung out. They make great efforts to support the team abroad then let the club and themselves down. I just don't understand their thoughts. ( perhaps lack of one )
  • The club are liaising with the airline to identify those involved and said they’ll ban them for life. I think they should also report them to the police.
  • There’s an article asking if we’re genuine title contenders on the BBC. We’re actually massive aren’t we?

  • Outstanding that an article about such thoughts is considered worthwhile. Shows how well we are perfoming this season.

I also see many similarities to Leicester in their 2015/16 season. I think one thing they benefited from in the league however - that is not applicable to us - was they were in no european competition, and went out early in both domestic cups. Could focus fully on the league, and no fatigue from mid week non league games.

Not that I would want us to bow out of the cups. Would LOVE to see us win a cup trophy. Also, can't really see us trumping MC, Chels, or Liv, over the full season either way, as they are all in general playing well, and have such greater squad depth. In a one off match though, our first 11 is a match for anyone at our best.

This outside chance at sneaking fourth though is amazing, and who knows? A lot of the other teams aiming for it are flattering to deceive currently.

As I've said before, qualifying for any europe next season is a very decent season, but we have a chance at this fourth spot so let's try!
  • And in answer to your question @alderz , yes, we are actually massive. ⚒
  • In other news, it’s now three years and two months since Spurs had a shot on target.
  • The biggest difference from Leicester's season was that the big clubs were in a bit of transition and lacked consistency which left the door open. At this time Chelsea are as good as they have been for years, City are not much under their best and Liverpool much the same.

The real opportunity for me is this Europa Cup. Make no mistake there are some strong teams in that competition, but none as good as Liverpool. We really have a chance if we prioritise those games.

We must be active and early in the January window and Lingard is who we need. He can score and so cover for Antonio and he can also play in place of Benni who is missing in January. We have cover in goal, at full back and centre back, Kral is there for the DM's the question is can Vlasik cover the attacking midfielders? and what is plan B if Antonio is out for a period?
  • Agree with all that C&BS.

Ideal world IMO, an AM (LIngard?), a striker, and a LB.

Love Cress, but Johnson's a RB, and Masu is a superb LWB (when up to speed) that terrifies me at LB. Happy with Cress as our starter, he offers so much to our side, but he needs some back up and someone to challenge him.

We may have to wait 'til summer for that though, however an injury to Cress would be a real issue to our side. An AM and ST would be great for us in Jan.
  • I think we need a really rapid winger. An out ball for when we're under pressure. Maybe Lingard can be that player, or perhaps a more conventional one to send crosses in. All of our attacking players, bar Antonio, are the cut inside and play nice through ball types.
  • Oggy's done his cruciate ligament and will see a specialist later this week
  • Premier League refuse to let clubs wear away kits at home as part of a charity campaign for Shelter, because it breaks the rule that they should prioritise their home kits. Complete PR own goal by the Premier League, IMO.

  • Time to resurrect the olden days word of 'jobsworth'

Mount has recently missed Chelsea games with a non covid related illness. They need to select better kebab shops in future. 😏

  • Poor show
  • We didn't want to be too massive.
  • What were the mitigating factors???? We need to know.

Can’t see any mitigating factors as it’s not as if it’s the first time we’ve done it.
Edit: it appears the mitigating factor was that the FA didn’t provide us with the correct information about his suspension and we had to tell them that we’d played him. Doesn’t seem much of a mitigation to me as surely the club and the player would know he’d received two bookings.
I hope Moyes is on the ball and counting our players bookings in the PL as a couple of them must be getting close to 5.
  • So I guess it depends who the responsibility is on, by fact we have been punished it appears it's us, which is very sloppy of us to have missed it if so.
  • Yellow cards so far (Prem): -

    Rice 4, Fornals 3, Soucek 2, Antonio 2, Bowen 1, Zouma 1, Ogbonna 1.
  • Just as a fyi, league cards don't count for the cups. ( In respect of the suspension after 5)
  • The WHU statement reports we told the FA another player should be suspended due to picking up a second booking their reply it appears was to say “oh by the way thanks for letting us know but we have realised you have played a different player illegally”! ☹️
  • Sloppy by the club because if they knew of one player who should serve a suspension then they should surely know of the other.

Papa John's Trophy is an EFL competition, don't know why the FA would be getting involved

Apparently its Rule 30 of the Papa John Trophy, can't find it anywhere
