  • He's just the No 2 who is in temporary charge. I spared a thought for the West Brom fans when they got Pullis.
  • I am just thankful that WBA held on to him just long enough to ensure that he did not come to us.

    ;phew
  • While not overchuffed at Moyes, I'd have been really fed up if they had gone for Pulis. Not that I think they would have. but still.
  • Worse of it is if West Brom would have had someone else in charge and struggling they’d be crying out for a sam/ puliss to help them stay up double standards

Horrendous appointment , so far seems like his tactics are even making us worse..
    Enough said IMO
  • I wanted Eddie Howe ;weep
  • What worries me more is the board don’t sack managers they said unless it gets to bad I wonder what there definition of bad is because it’s reached it for me and can’t possibly get any worse, wait up Man City away next it really can

Banging on about the board let’s players off the hook.
  • Banging on about the board let’s players off the hook.

Only banging on about the board on this thread the players are getting it on another
  • i was not a supporter of Moyes coming in but he is here so we have to live with it. in his defence he has inherited the dross and attitude that existed under Bilic so we have to see if he can change things in January. I am not optimistic that he will get the support he needs from the board but i think it is wrong to crucify him for trying to do the best with Bilic / the boards left overs. although relegation is a real worry we are not doomed yet. glass half full for me (but half full of the strong stuff!)
  • I happened upon Susan Boyles first audition on Youtube and clicked for a little inspiration. It lifted me and then I remembered I was still a West Ham supporter ;weep

I dreamed a dream in times gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed, that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted

I dreamed a dream of West Ham in times gone by
When hope was high (and so was I)
I dreamed they'd never fade and die
I dreamed Man City would be forgiving
Now I'm older and very afraid
And transfers were made and used and wasted

    ;yercoat
  • and I thought I was on the match thread LOL
  • I'm going to say that if the vast majority of our players were at other clubs, do we think they'd be playing at a higher performance level? If so, what percentage higher performance wise? 10-25%?

I doubt its one particular thing but there's something about our club that seems to make most players play worse when they arrive.

Today I'll be mostly posting signs...

    downloadim
  • Wonder if the owners know it’s St. Andrew’s day today, god wish they’d never left Birmingham lol
  • Out of the realistic possibilities they had

    Sam
    Pardew
    Moyes
    Keeping Slav

They’ve probably made the worst choice, they kept SA on for 2 years after a tidal wave of fan reaction and mass forum/blog polls......that bit always makes me chuckle, what the fans don’t realize is they helped cause this situation with SA, the board in the end bowed to what the fans wanted, let him run down his contract and then think they’re clever by tweeting he’s left at the final whistle

Two and a bit years on, again after appearing to bow to fan pressure they sack Bilic, now what happens when you really could do with a Sam figure to steady the ship? Oh that’s right you acted in a classless manner when letting him go, now he wants a kings ransom (that you baulk at) to come back and take any/all that abuse again, don’t blame him either.

Then you have Pardew who is literally screaming for the job, nearly always has a positive reaction when he first takes a role, nope you ignore him and go for a guy that has struggled in his last few appointments, yep this is so West Ham it’s unreal.

    They couldn’t run a bath
  • Couldn’t lie straight in bed
  • I don't understand why they are the only realistic appointments? Why are we only capable of picking from that pool? Why is anyone? It feels like appointing any of these managers is just the easy option.

When Southampton appointed Pocchetino it was from nowhere. Nobody knew Marco Silva until Hull picked up him. There are plenty of managers from the lower leagues too that are doing good jobs - what about Chris Wilder?

I'm not saying Moyes wasn't the best option, maybe he was, but I just wish clubs wouldn't keep going back to the same old faces. You can bet your life Pulis will be back in the premier league before the spring.
  • The reason clubs pick from that pool is because of the position they’re in. In the summer clubs have high hopes and aim higher. At this juncture clubs like us have no hope so grab what they can.
  • Marco Silva went to Hull last year when they had no hope, and face them hope.

The problem is the daves scouting resources/abilities are poor. They are incapable of finding the unknown wildcard. They could pretty much get their shortlist by going to whu606.com
  • Baracks - that's the same for everyone. Silva did ok but Hull were relegated.

Pardew to WBA, BFS to Everton, Moyes to WH.

The cost of relegation is so high Clubs will not make firefighting appointment with unknown quantity.
  • Vorse

There’s no comparison between the quality of players silva had at Hull to what Moyes has with us
  • Barack from what I’ve seen so far this season there’s every comparison between Hull and us.
  • The problem is he's got the same bunch of "players" who still run around like headless chicken (my apologies to headless chickens) except now they're fitter headless chickens who can run a little faster and a little longer. ;biggrin
  • We've always had a poor midfield.

Why do you think we have had a ;poormf smiley since the site started?
  • Barracks I was responding to you point on the Dave's having limited scouting etc as a reason why they pick Moyes.

I think all clubs look for a known quantity for firefighting.

The reason BFS is getting 6m from Everton. The red adair of relegation....

I honestly think that players don’t think they have to try when they come to West Ham. Do a bit of a jog, pass the ball in the general direction, it’ll be alright. We seem to have hit a critical mass of players who couldn’t be bothered. I have no idea what will rise them out of their apathy. Possibly lock them in a room with a bottle of whiskey and boxing gloves for a week. They need to Ctrl-Alt-Del themselves.

Edit: This is OT until I add this: Moyes needs to sort this out.
  • Passing the ball in the general direction would be an improvement.
  • Thorn, I'm reminded of the final scenes of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" every time I hear/read "in the general direction" ;biggrin
  • Anyone know what deal Moyes is on? I know it’s a 6 month deal with two more years as an option but how much is he getting paid?

A mate who has friends at the club claims he’s not taking a wage and will be paid a big lump if we stay in the league. Anyone else heard this?
  • We don’t need to go down
