  • Pablo official from Jack Sullivan Twitter
  • Quite surprising announcing it now - is the transfer window technically even open? The season hasn't even ended??...
  • or as close as if you count Jack Sullivan's Twitter as Official
  • unless his contract ended the earlier no idea or Man City released him ?
  • News broken by Jack Sullivan, just before it went up on the club site...
  • It must be the latter, yeold.

Quite surprising announcing it now - is the transfer window technically even open? The season hasn't even ended??...

Window is open. PL season ends after final Pl game.

His contract is up in June, so he is free to make other arrangements.
... will join the Hammers on a two-year deal on 1 July, when his contract with Manchester City expires. (official wording)

  • Happy days

Unless Byram is off have to consider that RB is now sorted for
If he is 80% of the player he used to be he would be a welcomed addition to the side and a big character who won't lose the head when we go down (how many times have we conceded 2/3 goals in quick succession)
  • and a big character who won't lose the head when we go down

I'm going to give it a while longer yet to see who else we sign before offering a prediction on whether we get relegated next season..

    Not quite what I meant

    Down in a game....

9th of June this year, according to Sky.

The handbook actually says the window opens on the first day after the end of the season OR a date determined by the highups. (I may be paraphrasing...)

The 1 July is often assumed because contracts typically run until end June so players can't officially sign until then.

As for 'after last day of season' or another day as determined by the local football authorities .... I think the former is from the Fifa rule for the earliest the summer window can open.

I wasn't aware that the powers that be has set another date...

I'll pre-empt you. We ain't going down next season.
  • Vorse

Yes as, like most PL players, his current contract runs until the end of June.
  • MrsGrey ;wave

Yes i just read that and another site which states 09/06 as the start of the transfer window but other sites still state 01/07 ;hmm .I think you are probably right (again ;whistle).
  • ;lol

    I'm not sure....
  • That might just be the best thing I have ever seen. Lot of love and respect for the man.

Really pleased to have got him.
  • Welcome Pablo ...
Hope it's a win win for all... coyi
  • ;clap great signing .and done early ;ok
  • Done that quickly, you'd have to assume he was our no 1 RB target.

Can't imagine the rest will fall that easily, but well done to the club .
  • We were probably in negotiations a couple of months ago. Made it clear that should he decide to move on (or no contract offer incoming) we'd love him to sign.
  • "I have been working on this solid for the last ten days since Manchester City gave us permission to speak to the player and I am absolutely delighted that Pablo has agreed to become a Hammer!"

  • Just watched that. It was really quite fab. Thanks for posting the link ;ok
  • Credit where it's due as Sully and Slav have deservedly taken stick for last summers transfer shambles.

We wanted a right back, we wanted him to have premiership or similar level experience and so ready to go, and we wanted them to act quickly and spend what it takes. I would imagine Zab had a few offers and so it's likely for him to commit so quickly we made him a significant offer.

Good work Sully and Slav ( never sure who to congratulate or blame the most )

Now just get the strike force sorted ;ok
  • .. I particularly liked him saying that if he'd been at a proper 'big club' he'd have been sacked for underachieving. ;lol
  • His will be the first name on the sheet for my FF team, I always have three hammers in the side.

    Sorted
  • "You'd better call Baz!"
  • He said he spoke to Manu and Calleri who convinced him to join us. Maybe opportune that he spoke to them before Calleiri was released.
