When Gold agreed to sell her shares to DK, he promised a £100m loan from EP Holdings to help service the debts to be paid this year, circa £150m+. Greedy Gold then decided to flog her shares to Staveley instead, so instead of having a much reduced debt, suddenly we are faced with the full debt to service. This has to come from player sales, so I would guess that that's where the vast majority of the money has gone.
Having splashed out £22m for Engels, and a further £1m for Lamadrid has bitten a rather large hole in the remaining funds. Add on top of that any loan fees for our loaned players.
OK, so we have shifted some wages from the spend budget from our outward loans, but I guess that the incoming players would want to paid too, so another chunk of budget gone.
I also suspect that we are subsidising to some extent the wages of the players having gone out on loan.
This is all down to greedy Gold scuppering her agreement with DK, and I suspect that there may be a set of fingerprints belonging to a certain resident of Theydon Bois all over the Staveley interference. Again merely suspicion, but didn't said resident fund a Staveley venture that ended going girly bumps up, so maybe he's telling her that she owes him one.
Besides, we all know that claret and booze are just click bait merchants, and without his "trusted source" needs to make up his own click bait stuff.
It is annoying that despite a lot of incoming revenue, so much is going back out on paying debts.
I am going to be optimistic though and believe we will get in 3 or 4 more players by the transfer deadline, that are better than back-ups. Certainly a LB, CB and AM are needed.

That is the reality of a relegation though and also our own overspending
Fortune I struggle to understand the points you are making. Nelson was originally available as a loan option but has had his contract mutually cancelled. Whether we want or wanted him or not he may not want to come here. We are a championship side and as such can’t expect players currently at PL clubs to jump at a chance to join us. Most players I would hope would want to play at the highest level but we can’t guarantee that potential new recruits would get that next season which makes it difficult.
thorn, I care, some might say too much for my own good but don't see why I should apologise for feeling that way. I struggle to get my head around a lot of the comments posted with an alternative view to mine & appreciate I am in a very small minority in that. Still believe we are short in a few key areas and hope by September 2 these will have been addressed.
ASLEF said he doesn't expect us to sign Reiss Nelson. I was trying to be witty in that he is on a free and all I have been hearing recently is we can't afford to really buy any decent players as we are skint?
Expat, Not getting into the she did, he didn't conversation about VG's shares as we don't know how far down the buying process DK had actually gone if at all.
Exactly I think that the team being assembled has added champo proven players. But how good are the other teams, I didn’t think there is another stand out team with great depth and cover throughout.
Jordan will be able to back me up on this (he probably won’t, because he’s a troll) but I said all last season that I didn’t rate Diouf and thought Scarles was a better player. £40m for him is insane business.
People are talking about teams benches, I am looking at the gaps in our starting line up - LB, CB & CDM for starters, is Soucek when he returns going to sit in the middle and let the rest bomb forward?

Seem to remember you saying Diouf is possibly the best player we've ever had
LB for me is now a priority. Like already mentioned, we are lacking in depth... If we don't get at least 3 decent players in, we will be short, let's see what they can muster up.....

£104m loss 24-25, same if not bigger loss last year, £190m owed to other clubs for players.

I think Diouf could become a better player. But Scarles had more good games than him. He’s had some stinker moments when he’s been under pressure for long periods of time but think he’s also had really good performances that are under appreciated. Would like to see him play alongside someone other than Kilman.

I don't expect us to sign Reiss Nelson, just as I didn't expect us to sign Axel Disasi, James McAtee, Troy Parrott, etc

As we’ve only 1/6 in the league, people understandably think it’s weak (I don’t), we win the next two & everybody will feel it’s decent

But how much depth do the other teams have? Genuinely.
I have no idea how good the other teams youngsters are either, and if they could step up if required.
Nearly every team in this league has a handful of youngsters on their bench

I wish JWP well though it all went sour for him in the last two seasons.
Diouf £18m-£40m
Summerville £25m-£65m
Fernandes £40m-£85m
Potts free-£10m
Relegation and huge debt. 😉
