thorn, Don't the clubs finalise their squads after the transfer window closes so player(s) currently in the 25 can be replaced. Can see JCT, JWP, Alvarez, Cornet & possibly Magassa not being with us going forward. Experienced players who ideally will need to be replaced.
I've gotta say, I was worried we'd get our pants pulled down over sales given that we'd been relegated, but we've got really decent money so far for Fernandes, Summerville and Diouf.
Fortune yes. The problem is if we’ve already got 25 we can’t bring any more in case those we think will leave don’t actually leave. Then we have players we can’t have in the squad but we have to pay. Maybe we currently don’t have 25
Five of our six records sales now in the last year - Fernandes, Summerville, Kudus, Diouf & Paqueta. Also, exlcuding Rice as he was from the academy, this summer has seen our three highest profits from player sales (+£43m for Fernandes, +£35m for Summerville, +£21m for Diouf)
That was basically what we got when we sold Rice.
£100m profit for transfers, for a relegated club is probably a record (no idea if true but sounds about right).

Unfortunately with Gold faffing us about with her shares we have lost the opportunity for DK via EP Holdings to inject £100m as a loan into the club to cover existing debts.

50000 season ticket holders, TV money, parachute payments, all players having wage cuts, offloading players on loan, about £170million net in transfers…
We’ve already broken the divisions transfer record, and have signed a striker that has bags of goals at this level. If we get to September and haven’t signed anyone else than I’ll be as disappointed as anyone, but surely it’s obvious that the club want more signing and are likely to make some.
“West Ham will now sign a new left back to replace Diouf as well as looking for a centre back and a left winger. This is a minimum with possibly another forward and midfielder being considered.
I think our business has been spot on given the circumstances. We recouped over £200m from players - which helps stabilise the club financially following relegation - & we’ve made smart signings (Veltman, Solomon, Engels, Piroe). If we can get rid of Diouf, Todibo, Alvarez & Cornet before the deadline & sign 3/4 more players, I am more than happy with what the club has done, given the circumstances, when you add in keeping Souček & Bowen & (it seems) Mavropanos/Taty.
The Diouf sale is a bonus - the club weren’t banking on that extra money, so we now have the option to sign several players before the deadline
Problem is, by all accounts/reports NES really wanted Diouf to stay..... But our club failed to convince him of doing so..... Anyhow, if he didn't want to put 1 year effort in and try and get the club back up, good riddance I say... But we will need a new LB for sure......
I am surprised at how many fans seem to be oblivious to the financial hit of relegation - the £200m sales was not to create a budget, it was to allow us to keep Soucek, Bowen, Mav, Taty for a year, bring in a handful of players & stabilise the club finances. I want signings as much as anyone but I also want a club to support that competes at a decent level.
Hope we do more of the business weve already done, which I'd describe as smart
• Piroe looks a sensible deal, he will score goals • Veltman looks a sensible deal, he bring some class and depth • Engels is the longer term high ceiling option that can hopefully be a good prem player once promoted • Mukasa is a sensible loan to give dpeth across the front line • Lamadrid is a low risk gamble

We have some very weak backup on the wings, bordering on non-existent. We have very little backup in defence too.
That's my view of the situation.
Maybe we currently don’t have 25

Guess where that money has to come from now.

More than enough to spend some on players
