  • Fabrizio Romano sharing information that was first reported 3 weeks ago

    He's quite good at that.
  • So am I =)
  • I don't know who Nicolo Schira is but again its something everyone has known for three weeks

And something we've been discussing on the "who will stay" thread

Some actual news from Ben Wignall at Football League World

Linked us with N Ireland 25yo Ethan Galbraith, ex-Man Utd youth, joined Swansea from Leyton Orient last summer for £1.6m, 44 appearances, 4 goals, 2 assists, 7 yellow cards, . Utility player, mostly CM/RB

    Wrexham also interested
  • Read somewhere that Saints have a 15 % sell on clause if we sell Fernandes

  • Fernandes isn’t 22 until next month unless we get top dollar for him he could stay & still get his massive move in a few years time. Most of the squad should stay & give it a go to get us back up like in the by gone ago when players did that but football is way too big for that nowadays with all the money flying around.
  • I agree, there is no rush to cash in unless it's too good to turn down.
  • There are wage/squad rules in the Championship, however
  • The rules also apply to the PL
  • Our biggest issue is that contract clause where our player wages are being cut by 50%

    Sensible, but players like money.
  • its just a clause ,Which i guess can be changed if theres money there .

It’s not that simple. Our bill for wages, transfers and agent fees can’t be more than 85% of our total income.
Given that our income is going to be substantially lower next season changing the wage clause is not going to work.

    This is the point.

Even if DK injects funding to clear some of the liquidity issues, he still has to work with rules that state that he can’t inject more than £15m per year after 1st July & the squad to cost ratio of wages are capped at 85% of revenue. Even selling Fernandes for £70m does little if the rest of the squad are still on high salaries, especially as he has stated we ‘don’t need to sell our key players’.
  • SCR rules are 85% of turnover can be spent on the squad, but clubs can spend up to 110% before any penalties are points related. Up to that point there are fines and that’s all. The thought is that most clubs who have money will not worry about it.
  • The maximum is 115% before a points deduction but if you go over the 85% limit the maximum is reduced next season and so on eg 95% and the maximum the following season is 105% etc.
  • Don’t forget £44m parachute payments. 60% of ST’s were renewed in the first week of sales. Not all players will stay and those that do will likely take a wage cut, but not necessarily 50%, those who don’t we’ll get some decent fees for. Obviously SKY money reduces by c. £100m.
But now we have a savvy business man running the show.
I for one believe our financial woes are being put behind us.
Anyway, I’m off to the Positive Arms for a pint. Anyone coming?
