West Ham versus Leeds, the final throw of the dice match thread, Sun 24th May, 16:00

edited May 20 in Match Threads
Her we go, the final one for the year, hopefully we will still be in with a minimal shout for survival and relegate the spuds.

I don't usually start many match threads, but it's about time I get to start a winning one. Plus it makes a change from the predictor threads =)

It is incredibly unlikely now with them only needing one point from two matches, but if it did come off it would be the perfect way to do it, against all odds us winning and them losing against Moyes Everton in front of their own fans.

First things first lets just Hope Chelsea can beat them this evening!
  • That sure is a handsome handful of straws you have there
  • To be fair Chicago I am not even sure we would survive if we were in their position and needing a point from two matches, not once Nuno had decided Tatty was his new centre half and Scarles his number 10.
  • I was wondering if he fancied picking himself to go between the sticks
  • Well the players have to be up now for this one .would hate to see us not win .Only for Spurs to loose ,So please Nuno start Tasty and go for it .And let the chips fall where they may
  • We thought they’d be up for it against Palace, Brentford and Newcastle but weren’t. Hopefully the crowd will generate a great atmosphere and they respond. All we can do is win and hope.
  • Nuno must get this right from tomorrow morning.

Bowen also needs to step up.

  • Against all the odds, it went to the last game. And against all the odds, we will need to beat one of the most in form teams in the league currently and hope Moyes and Everton come out of their form slump and win away.

This season Everton have won more and lost fewer games away than at home. Leeds have only won twice away from home and drawn nine.
  • I reckon we can trust Nuno to have a cunning plan for this one.

Yeah, Taty in goal, Scarles as lone striker, Soucek on the wing for starters. =)
  • They say that there is never a bad time to score a goal, but for once I feel that an early goal here will be especially valuable, if we can get ahead early doors, the news will travel like wildfire to Spurs and they just might go to pieces….

Right now all I really want is to make Spurs work for it, let’s do this and turn Leeds over

  • Leeds return after seven weeks and they've had a good run since then, their only loss was against Chelsea in the Cup. They had a historic win at Old Trafford plus wins at home over Wolves, Burnley and Brighton with draws away at Bournemouth and Spurs

They're currently 14th on 47pts. Below only Palace, 15th, 45pts, could catch them if they beat Arsenal at home. Above Fulham, Everton and Newcastle are all on 49pts, Everton are at Spurs, Newcastle at Fulham

Ethan Ampadu was named Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year last night while Noah Okafor was awarded Performance Player of the Year for his two goals against Man Utd. Goal of the season went to Anton Stach for his 30 yard free kick against Villa

Calvert-Lewin is on a roll, scoring in the last three games

    But

Last weeks win against Brighton came at a price with Buonanotte, Aaronson and Stach all picking up injuries although Aaronson was just a dead leg so should be fit to return

They already have Okafor, Gruev, Struijk, Bogle and Gudmundsson injured so that quite a few first team regulars potentially unavailable.

    Leeds at the start

    Darlow
    Rodon Bijol Buonanotte
    James Stach Ampadu Tanaka Justin
    Aaronson Calvert-Lewin

    Leeds at the end

    Darlow
    Rodon Bijol Byram
    Gnoto Nmecha Ampadu Longstaff Justin
    Piroe Calvert-Lewin

RW Dan James has only returned from injury and has been subbed after an hour two games in a row, both times he's been replaced by RW Wilfred Gnoto who hasn't started since our last meeting

LB Sam Byram has had only one start in the Carabao and just four substitute appearances

Sean Longstaff's last start was against Norwich in the 5th round of the Cup. Lukas Nmecha and Joel Piroe are both forwards but Nmecha ended up playing as a midfielder

    A draw wouldn't be nice...
  • Taty and Wilson start up front.

Pablo comes out n if needed
  • I would start Taty and Pablo ,They seem to work well together .However I would tell Pablo not to cross the centre line into our half =)
  • For me, back to Taty and Pablo. Wilson doesn’t offer much until the end of the game and you lose his late threat when you start him. Pablo’s kind of the opposite, helps set the pace early but is a bit manic when he comes on.
