West Ham United v AFC Sunderland. Saturday 24th January, 12.30pm on TNT.

After getting a kick up the backside from steve to get the Spurs thread open I have gone early this week. 😂

Well, no one expected us to go on a roll, and in current circumstances 2 wins is a roll, but here we are going for three on the bounce.

Sunderland, probably the surprise package of the season, at home for a lunchtime football feast. Going to be tight but as our tails are now up I see us coming out on top 2-1.

The No More BS campaign have called on fans to stay out or their seats for the opening 15 minutes. Not good timing as I see it. Even though the target is the board everyone should be trying to get behind the team from the off. We'll see.

Over to you ASLEF.

For me, this is very short sighted. We surely need to capitalise on the momentum of two hard fought victories. The idea that half the stadium would be filtering in after 15 minutes feels a lot like shooting ourselves in the foot.
  • I agree but to be fair this has been arranged / organised for a couple of weeks now. I'll be in my seat for kick off as will, I believe, the vast majority.

Yeah I agree. But I remember also feeling the same about Brentford when it was Nuno’s first home game.

Will it ever feel like the right time? This whole season will feel like bad timing because we should be there supporting the team.

Maybe some kind of half-time or full-time protest would be better.
  • True enough. There's never a good time. And I guess those who are advocating for it will think it's in the long term interests of the club.

    Areola
    Wan-Bissaka - Mavropanos - Todibo - Scarles
    Souček - Fernandes
    Bowen - Pablo - Summerville
    Taty

Hermansen, Igor, Kilman, Walker-Peters, Diouf, Magassa, Potts, Rodríguez, Wilson

I was tempted to bring Diouf back in but Scarles has done well recently.

We have to do whatever necessary to grind out 3 points here.
  • Have to go with same team ,Is Diouf back yet if so not sure we should put him in from the start perhaps last 20 mins if we are level or worse ,Then his speed and crosses might be useful
  • Big game for my household, fortunately we have the early kick off so I fully expect to be watching the game in peace with a jaunty bacon sarnie firmly in hand, no way my boys will come over for a 6.30am kick off.

Unlikely we will keep a clean sheet, however I do think there is some momentum so I am going for a tight 2-1 to the mighty hammers.

  • I don’t really buy into the whole “need to play the same team” thing. Spurs and Sunderland are very different, and we should change accordingly. I worry slightly that our midfield will be overrun. I’d be tempted to play Magassa with Soucek and take our Pablo.

But you could spin that and say keep the same starting 11 and change the tactics to suit the opposition, the players should be a bit adaptable … IMO I’d keep the same team 👍🏻⚒️
