  • Phew! That was unnecessarily tight. Most of us at the beginning said we'd be happy with a point. Just the way they went about it was depressing
  • We deserved to lose that for our appalling tactics second half.
  • Feels like a loss.
  • Odd tactics from Nuno, unless there are injuries we are not aware of, but to hack Wilson off at 50 mins, 10 minutes too early at least IMO.... Bournemouth had around 25 attempts on goal, Areola IMO saved our bacon today.......
  • I didn’t see the first half due a combination of my granddaughter’s birthday party and a rubbish stream, but I saw the second. What was that all about ?😳You can’t defend that deep for 45 minutes!Absolutely bonkers tactics and substitutions. If it wasn’t for Areola we would’ve been well beaten.
Yeah I would’ve settled for a point at 3 pm , but that was two points chucked away 🤬
  • A draw away from home against a side ten places above us we would normally think is a good result, it’s just so disappointing because at the halfway mark we were leading by two goals, As ever, our defence let us down, and the midfield failed badly to push up in the second half. It was two points dropped that seemed to be there for the taking, and Nuno’s tactics are up for questioning yet again,
  • Gont understand Wilson coming off so early. Fullcrug did nothing as far as I could see and some of our passing was so school boyish. Pleased with the result though
  • Brought that on ourselves with the early subs
  • Nuno is both a hero and idiot all in the same match!

He was a hero in coming off two great results and managing to gain a two goal lead at half time against an in form team. He then decides we are rubbish and couldn't possibly go on to assert further and retreats into his own final third with one of the shakiest defences in the league, absolute idiot!

I would have been delighted with a draw before kick off, yet this feels like the worst kind of loss, the type you brought on your self.
  • I hope Nuno just admits in hindsight it was a mistake to make the changes.
  • Still......only 6 places behind Liverpool 🤣🤣
  • A long way still to go but I think the current bottom 4 will be the relegation battle. Can't really see any of the others above getting pulled into it.

Going to be a long season if Nuno continues being this negative.
  • That’s what I said the other week, it’s us or the bottom 3. Nobody else will be in it come May.

Often a team drops into trouble that you wouldn't expect; the team with the worst form over the last 6 matches, apart from Wolves, is Liverpool. If only 😂🤣😂.
  • The last game of the season against Leeds could be a decider.
  • 8 points off a Champions League place a third of the way through the season. 👍
  • What annoyed me was not the subs - they've worked before - but the hoofball tactics. No attempt to keep possession and use up time, just gifting them the chance to attack. I'm amazed they only scored twice
  • That second half was torturous - in my best Victor Meldrew - “I just don’t believe it” in what universe can a professional coach look at that second half as anything other than an unmitigated disaster that was entirely predictable and preventable.

I am of course pleased with the point and I trust we raced straight to the bank without passing go to deposit it….but aside from Areola's heroics, we did not deserve it.

The first half was a much more competitive affair with Wilson scoring a brace of proper center forward goals that he should be proud of and Todibo also catching the eye at the back, however it was also clear that young Guilherme is a bit lightweight, but all in all at half time, I was delighted with the lead and happy with the general performance.

What upset me about the second half was the flashback that used to make me soooo mad. Nuno reverted to the tactics that DM often employed when ahead…park the bus and focus on defence….yet IMO… all that does is surrender territory and possession to the other team and invites immense pressure upon yourself that is impossible to resist….utterly maddening.

It is one thing to try and hold out to a team that is demonstrably superior but to do so against a peer just because you have carved out a lead………..insert head explode emoji

I think there is a bit more to it. Ultimately we did not have two of our most influential players in getting up the pitch; Paquetá & Summerville &, whilst we did well first half, the conditions & state of the game was only going to result in Bournemouth asking more and more questions, which we needed to answer with changes or an improved performance. Paquetá, when on form, dictates the tempo & pace of our play. Summerville gets us up the pitch quickly. We are still missing the likes of Mavropanos too (who would have been ideal that second half).

I think KWP on at HT was wrong, way too early. He had other options, including beefing up the midfield (Souček, Magassa) & going with Wilson & Bowen up top if he was not happy with Guilherme. Or, just leaving it as it was for 15 minutes. To then bring off Wilson for Souček after only 50 odd minutes was also wrong (he must have been shattered). Those changes could have happened but much later. It was a good half, followed by a bad half, which can happen in football. They would have been 4th with a win & the weather conditions didn’t help. I don’t think referring to Bournemouth as anything but an established, consistent, dangerous side is fair. Bournemouth have won every home game this season but one (0-0 with Newcastle, which they also dominated).

In the end, I think you have to try & look at the positives. After we lost to Leeds I predicted (at best) 3 points from Newcastle, Burnley, Bournemouth (& that really was optimistic). I genuinely thought we’d struggle to get another point this season (as did thorn 😉). We sit here with 7. We take the point, forget that second half onslaught & move on. Defensively we still need to improve significantly (no clean sheets under Nuno, but no more than 2 goals conceded in any game). A tough run of games to come but a couple of key players back & hopefully we can keep improving slowly.

The only worry, for me, is Nuno seemed oblivious to the changes he made & how they may have impacted the result.

Add that to his starting 11s when we played Brentford & Leeds…

I would bet that if he had played the side that played v Burnley against Brentford & Leeds, we’d be around 3 points clear of danger.
  • One thing for certain, Wilson certainly hasn't lost his touch, even if his speed has gone a bit, he's an excellent option, even if not for 90 minutes....
  • Wilson certainly demonstrated with both goals that he knew where the net was. Turning and shooting
  • The morning after ...

the is something puzzling about Nuno. He selected a strange team for the matches against Leeds and Brentford. We lost both.

Then he found the right combination with a centre-forward leading the attack. But yesterday he took off Wilson too early and didn't replace him with Fulkrug. He then removed Fernrandes and our midfield struggled too. After that we struggled and were lucky to hang-on to one point as Bournemouth had all the time and space. Our defence isn't exactly top-notch. Two points thrown away.

Can anyone explain Nuno's thinking? How many lessons does he need?
  • No and I don't know.

    Baffling
  • I didn't see the first half, were the weather conditions the same as the second half because to me it had a major effect on trying to play football.

I can’t agree, looking at the ( very early) table I reckon any team up to and including Brentford could be scrapping it out come April/May.

  • A solid point but again we were so easy to play against. Areola certainly saved us that point.

The football is very regressive, not much different to the last few managers. The footballing philosophy of this club the last few years, with just backs against the wall football isn't a nice watch. It would be nice to see us dominate a game for once, able to play a more progressive style of football. Not sure it will come for a long time.

Its hard to see what the selling point of this club is, can't see many new fans being drawn to watch West Ham, can't see how long many fans are going to keep going to the stadium to watch us play backs against the wall against every team in the division.

  • Yeold, did you see the Newcastle match?

    Yes.
The wind was in our favour in the first half.
Both halves, people slipping all over the place.
