  • Being 6” tall is no use we need them to be 6’ plus.

Every team we’ve played this season has had the same tactic from corners. They all crowd the six yard box, and put it on top of the keeper. If that’s his weakness, fine, but Potter has to work out a way of countering it with the several 6”+ players in the side.

Not sure Potter will be around for long, sadly, his record is woeful.Tactics little better for the most, pity, he comes across as a good person and honest, but sadly he just can't seem to sort it out.
Today he obviously wasn't helped by the reckless red card, but I just feel whatever he comes up with, it isn't working.....

    All IMO of course...
  • Never seen so many leave with 20 mins to go.
  • We’ve had the same number of attempts as them but never looked like scoring.
  • Irving on for JWP.
  • Never seen so many leave with 20 mins to go.

Didn't we once have a mass exodus at half time?

If you lot are trying to claim they’re under 6” you need to get your eyes tested
  • Spurs' biggest win at our ground since 1962..Oh my.......
  • Alderz 6” is 6 inches. 6’ is 6 feet.
  • No MOTM vote for me, on account of not watching all the way through.
  • A very disappointing game. We can't defend set-pieces and corners. That has been evident since January but Potter has no answer. Our static midfield offered nothing and let Spurs knock the ball around with impunity and put in crosses.
I can't understand why Bowen was played at CF against highly physical central defenders and he got no change out of them. That was evident but Potter made no substitutions at half-time. By not playing Wilson or Fullkrug from the start, Potter also weakened defending from corners.

I fear the same result next unless Potter has different tactics.

@Pengeman, He could always think about picking a different line up?

IF the protest groups are planning to do that at next weekends game then what has just occurred has certainly strengthened their resolve to do so.

Yes, thorn, I know. You made my typo very clear in your first post.

I can see Fabianski getting some game time this season.

I didn't think for a second they invited Fab back to be third keeper, They saw what the rest of us did, An over the hill Fab is still better than the two we have at present. He will get his chance and soon at this rate.
  • Very disappointing, started quite promising with some positive moves, if only we had a dedicated striker who could get on the end of the quality crosses that Diouf produces…..oh wait…..

Really, like what Fernandes brings to the table but am still not sure what AWP brings, no complaint as to the red, my issue is that the game was so clearly over as a contest at that point.

    Feel pretty flat after that

An inch is different to a foot

  • Well somehow Potter saw a lot of positives and thought we defended well against set pieces until the first goal and that we were in control until half time.

It’s all about fine margins isn’t it Graham! 🤦🏻‍♂️
  • I thought we were good with the ball in the first half, and if defending set pieces well means “we didn’t concede from set pieces until we did” then I guess we did. Obviously the first goal was particularly frustrating because of our ongoing issues with corners, but the rest of the performance was good until Soucek got himself sent off

We collapsed after the red. First half we started well but Spurs were well on top by the break. Then it was over after the red. First goal was pathetic defensively.

The amount of implosions is very worrisome.

    Sunderland - 0-0 after 60 mins, 3-0 FT
    Chelsea - 1-0 up after 15 mins, 1-3 by HT & 1-5 by 60 mins
Wolves - 1-2 up after 81 mins, 3-2 by FT
    Spurs - 0-0 at HT, 0-3 by 64 mins

Really concerning. That is a trait of a relegated side, how quickly we fold. You have to allow a little bit of leeway for the red card, but I have seen many sides grind out a performance with personality with 10 men.

Potter is still, to a degree, not yet in a position to play his best 11, which I assume is this…

    Hermansen
    Wan-Bissaka - Mavropanos - Kilman - Diouf
    Fernandes - Magassa - Paquetá
    Bowen - Füllkrug - Summerville

Once we get that 11 out for a few games, I will make a proper judgement. I think he is having to still play JWP & Souček because 1) the strikers aren’t fit & 2) Magassa is new. Walker-Peters did well at Forest & is ok but AWB was our first choice, but was ill yesterday. Füllkrug was not fit to start & Summerville is just returning from a 9 month injury.

But, when that side is out, if we continue to lose & lose heavily, he will inevitably be sacked. We have Palace, Everton, Brentford, Leeds all in our next 5 games. That will be the pivotal run of fixtures (I think).

I do think it will get worse before it gets better, but I think it will improve if we are patient.
  • I assume that is a 3 game ban for Souček?

I personally think Potter is too nice, if that makes sense....

Zonal marking, do me a favour... Yesterday the marking or non marking of their tall players was strange, our smallest players against some of their tallest and our CB's marking no one...Fernandez was obviously instructed to do what he was doing at every corner, we were fortunate their 1st goal was disallowed IMO...

His best 11, do you really believe he knows that, I'm not convinced.

Also not sure AWB in a back 4 works, his weird loving of the non-droppable "JWP" is bizarre, he doesn't know his best CB's, Mavro in, then out, then in again....it's just all a bit odd..

This is not an anti-Potter rant, I wanted J-Lo gone, and was ok with Potter's appointment, but how long does he get, I mean there are some top managers out there without a job, Nuno, Cooper and "The special one" !!!!! ( this is all tongue in cheek before I get called out ).......

Potter has got IMO a few games to sort it, with a record worse than Uncle's, I fear it only bodes in one direction.....
  • Thought we were pretty good for the first half, and the first 30 minutes in particular were the best I can remember us playing at home in a really long time. I’ve been critical of JWP since Moyes was in charge but actually thought yesterday he showed some signs of being more mobile and showing more energy to move into spaces to receive a pass in the first half, which helped us.
The first goal is a shame and then Soucek’s really ruined it for us. We completely collapsed and couldn’t stay in it. I don’t think the result looks like that if Soucek isn’t stupid there.
  • Fat lot of good booing Kudus is doing. Easy to see why he wanted away from us.

He wanted away from us because we weren’t investing to improve the team & thought Tottenham would be more successful. Are we better off than last season?

    Without Kudus, yes.
  • Excluding Rice when has a player honoured a contract in recent years.

Fab, Antonio, Coufal, Cresswell, Ogbonna, Johnson.........
  • Never seen so many leave with 20 mins to go.

    Arsenal last season for one.
