There is also a huge concern about Füllkrug. Yes he had a decent goal return in pre-season, but he is our main man now &, frankly, I’d be more confident with Antonio up top. A very poor display from him yesterday.

Füllkrug didn't have much of service. Midfield was so slow, passing sideways and backwards, and let Sunderland defenders get into position.

JWP and Guido combination is hopeless and don't understand why Potter picked it. Young Potts is better than them both. Paquetá is a liability. Why play players who are determined to leave? The back three easily beaten in the air and for pace. Don't understand why Guilherme didn't play?

Need mass changes for the next game.

JWP ia supposed to be deadly from set pieces and a great crosser of the ball. How many free kicks has he scored for us? How many assists from crosses.?
IMO we need our wingers back. Crosses for Fulkrig that he can score from - Bowen is wasted where.is. Our full backs could offer the same if played correctly. Get Soucek back and he might thrive on these crosses. What does Potfs need to do? Telling that JWP made Rodriguez look good!
    Easy this management game. 😜⚒️

In our current system/personnel, we are an easy team talk for all managers this season - push back their wing-backs & double up on Bowen.

If teams achieve those two small efforts, they win.

First goal - easy cross, no pressure on crosser, lose header. 1-0. (Who is Kilman marking btw?).

Second goal - easy cross, no pressure on crosser (why is Todibo charging out as a CB?), lose header. 2-0.

Third goal is just a mess but game was over. Hermansen not great.

Also, whilst Sunderland are newly promoted, that was not a newly promoted 11.
  • Maybe Rodriguez doesn’t look as good as he obviously is because he’s used to playing with players like Messi and MacAllister etc and expects movement and a bit of savvy from those around him. Instead he just sees us knocking it sideways and backwards as slow as snails because the mantra is let’s be a possession based team. As long as we have the ball they can’t score but the trouble is even with the ball we can’t so as soon as they do get it we’re in trouble.

The main problem is lack of pace in midfield. By that I don't just mean raw pace, but also in terms of passing the ball.

We need that pacy, and direct midfielder..... Fernandes for example
  • One of the worries is what will the teams we have coming up next do to us? Were that us bedding in seven new players we would have used that as explanation for a poor performance, we used it for most of last season. Yet they managed to gel enough on their first match to hammer us 3-0.

It's one match and nothing should be concluded from any one game but it is worrying.
  • Guillerme has a broken collar bone, suffered in training.

You couldn't make it up, what is it with us?
  • Last season I was impressed by the way Potter changed things up to improve performance. This time he stuck with the system and subbed late. Very odd.

Been awfully quiet on the West Ham official media platforms since Saturday. Has the club disbanded?

Not been a single post on Instagram since the FT whistle & no posts about the first team on the website or ‘X’ since Bowen’s interview on Saturday.
  • Let's hope they are focused on getting things right on the training ground rather tham talking about it.
