  • Do Sunderland have 8 debutants? May be a little disjointed.
  • I think after last season we need something to get excited about early. We need to feel Potter is the right man and that players are finding their better form again, if we do that I feel we can have a decent season. It could go the other way however and a bad start will knock confidence and due to last season it could make the fans turn early.
  • Big call on keeper but could be a crucial part of the jigsaw, certainly playing out.
  • Rodriguez over Potts LOL

Little point in brings Mads in if he's not gonna be played, given the current playing style isn't working with Areola.

  • Disappointed Potts has been dropped for Guido of all people, the slowest of our slow midifelders
  • Rodriguez over Potts LOL

    Both over Soucek!!!!

Well he won’t need to do much running as will be sitting as a DM.

  • Roefs
    Hume Ballard Seelt Reinildo
    Xhaka Sadiki Diarra
    Talbi Mayenda Adingra

    11 out of 11

    Off to a good start

    Don't get Rodiduez starting

    Maybe the ITKs aren’t ITK
  • Bowen tests the keeper from a tight angle, wins a corner.
  • Good save from Mads as Kilman is nutmegged to create a chance.
  • Sunderland fans getting on my nerves already

Already Mads seems much more composed than Areola with the ball at his feet.
  • Nicely defended by Todibo when he was pulled a bit wide.
  • I think we have done quite well in the opening 12 mins, Killman went missing for a moment but otherwise no real unforced errors to talk about,
  • Very slack pass by Diouf, not on the same wavelength as whoever he was trying to pass to.

Paqueta fails to win a free kick for the first time this season. At least he got up fairly quickly this time.

Paqueta then wins the ball well just outside our box, feeds Bowen, and we win a free kick out wide just short of their box. JWP delivers an outswinging ball in, but it's too high for everyone.
  • Meanwhile, Kudus has an assist for Spurs.
  • Tobibo has had a tidy 25 mins

A ball from Paqueta is just touched on to Bowen by Fullkrug, but he can't quite get the ball out of his feet to get the shot away. Nice interplay though.

    Very much so imo.

Lovely build up play, I thought Diouf had scored for a moment.

A good 5 mins for us.

I'd love it if we played all season like we have done for the last 10 minutes.
  • Who is this Ag-waard fella my coms keep mentioning
  • Poor shot by Rodriguez leads to a Sunderland counter, Kilman gets the block in and it's a Sunderland corner.
  • We looked a little unconvincing defending the corner, it eventually goes out for another one, but a weak header ends up safely in Mads's hands.
  • No added time, 0-0 HT.
  • Not too much in it. We had a couple of good moments and Diouf was unlucky not to score. Need to keep giving the ball to Bowen. And we need a new midfield
  • All in all a promising half against an intimidating atmosphere- very happy to be deservedly honors even at the half way point.

Bowen looks sharp and Tobido looks like the player we thought he was.
