    How many clubs change managers mid season and change to a worse one than the one they got rid of. 1 win in 16 for Potter.
    Wolves and Everton also changed and went from strength to strength.

    Ok he’s won 3 in 14 in league and none in 1 in cup. Fulham, Arsenal and Leicester but nothing for 2 months

    IMO Potter needs to take some blame for sure, but like already said above, this squad needs changing big time, whether it can be done, I don't know, but something at the club is very very wrong, it's like it's inevitable to fall apart every game now...

    I don’t blame Potter for anything - we have been competitive in every game under him. The only game we have lost by more than 1 goal was Palace (2-0) & we had 10 men at 1-0. The damage was done last summer with poor signings & the players need to take 90% of the blame for what we have seen over the last two years or so.

    We lack a true captain, there is no leader in that team, that's a glaring mistake.
    Kilman/ Todibo etc, decent enough, but they just don;t seem like a leader....Anyway just IMO, and who really cares, like @Lukerz said earlier....

    3 wins is a bit different to 1; neither is great, but a huge difference between 3 and 1.

    There is a big difference I agree but to put it into perspective when we do our “how many points we’d be satisfied with from 8 games etc” we mostly go somewhere between 9 and 12. Based upon our form over the last 14 games and probably the 14 before that we shouldn’t really expect more than about 4.
    After what was said last week when we conceded late it was even worse this week by doing it twice. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Fullkrug isn’t pushing for a move in the summer because of what keeps happening.
    Luckily stats won’t show us losing the most points from a winning position because we very rarely get into one.

    My point is, jay, not long ago you were saying Lop should take the blame, now it’s Potter. The blame lies with the players. They are not good enough &, most importantly, their mentality is flimsy.

    I’m not sure what it is with their mentality. They’ve conceded in stoppage time in each of their last 3 games and in each case the scorer was completely unmarked or could stroll in undetected.
    It can’t be a mental block expecting or fearing letting a goal in but more a case of having a timescale of 90 minutes locked into their brains and once it goes beyond that they don’t know what they’re meant to do. It’s about time they learnt that first halves generally last about 48-49 minutes and second halves more often than not at least 50.

    @Lukerz, I tend to agree about the players which should then bring into question why some have been saying for a while that there isn’t anything to be alarmed about! Being ok with avoiding relegation is a really poor state of affairs, some might say shocking. The manager is supposed to motivate the players though.

    No Luke, I didn’t say that.
    What I said WAS Potter had to take “ some” of the blame , the players the same…
    But you said you don’t blame Potter for anything, to me, that’s just odd….
    Some of his decisions and formations have perhaps been ‘part of the blame”….
    There’s a difference IMO

    It’s ok people blaming the players but the manager picks the team! Would Alvarez have sensed the danger & closed down the space to avoid a shot being taken, is he injured? GP picked JWP & Soucek in midfield then brought on Fullkrug at half time to correct his error.

    Yeah, Alvarez is out injured according to Potter's pre-match presser (a back problem).

    I genuinely can’t understand how anybody thinks that the manager is to blame for a squad of players who have been beaten for nearly 2 years straight - fairly easily - under three different managers.

    @Lukerz. I would agree IF we had had the same players over the past two seasons 👍. They probably down tools for DM towards the end but what about the previous season? JL changed the squad & GP still chooses to select some of the old timers. I worry he isn’t going to make the changes needed.

    Seeing the highlights, the mentality of the players really feels like the problem. Not in terms of them not caring or not trying, but whenever they come under pressure the whole team drops and drops and drops. I remember Moyes saying he didn’t want them doing that, but it seems to be baked into them.

    IMO, we’ve been lacking a leader at the back since Dawson left, and we’ve been lacking a leader full stop since Rice left. We’ve got nobody directing the defensive line.

    Maybe Potter thinks a 27yo right back is a better option at left back than a 35yo who mostly plays as a left sided centre back these days

    AWB played on the left several times at Man Utd and has started there five times this season

    People talk like football is so simple - Potter makes questionable subs. He only makes questionable subs because we have a poor squad. He decides he wants to make a change, he looks at his bench & sees Cresswell (who is 35), Ings, Irving, Rodríguez & Soler. No wonder he decides to bring on Coufal & Füllkrug. Why would he play Cresswell - who can’t run - against a wide player at wing back? He has no choice but to bring Coufal on & tweak the system.

    I’m not being funny, if you looked at our subs yesterday, only Füllkrug would get in another side in the bottom half.

    I saw lots of good yesterday, & I put that down to Potter - just like there was at Anfield. The mentality of the squad needs to change & I am hopeful with a rebuild in the summer, next season will be a lot more positive.

    Even the winning goal - the players should have gone quicker, 100% - but they are also probably thinking ‘go on, hit it, into the stands, goal kick, we take the point’. It is an insane strike.

    Jay - what do you blame Potter for? The formation of 3-5-2 had us 1-2 up away at a side 12 points higher than us & pushing for Europe, whilst we sit 17th. Do you think he should have made 0 subs or did you think he should have brought on Irving, Cresswell, Ings, Rodríguez once he decided we needed fresh legs.

    The conundrum is that we will spend millions in summer again and end with a worse squad and players.

    Potter may rebuild but is likely to be sacked in early next season if the current form is repeated. 3 wins out of 15 so far is poor. He only lasted 31 games at Chelsea and won 12. His record at WHU is likely to be even worse.

    So do the Board stick with him and spend millions, or cut their losses at the end of the season and hand money to someone else? Would Mark Noble be better?
