It was noticeable that Fullkrug was 'encouraging ' other players during the game. I wish Bowen would do the same. And Potter from the touchline. This team need a boot up the proverbial to wake them up. 😉
The team is lacking lots, including a true leader on the pitch IMO
Could do worse than recall Soucek to the starting XI
I said that ages ago that I feel Soucek is a better captain than Bowen ( not player ) but a leader/captain I like to see him gee up the team, I don't see that in Bowen...
Moyes managed to uplift Everton and Nuno Herlander Simões Espírito Santo has magical effect on Nottingham Forest. But WHU managers can't seem to uplift the team - Lopetegui spent millions; Potter is struggling and it was another dismal performance against Southampton.
Rather than imposing his own will straight away, a good manager should see what players are capable of and devise a plan accordingly. Once players have confidence then the manager can start the change gradually. Unless there is change in approach I fear more bad time next seson.
Potters first season begins in August in my view, but he has had the perfect luxury of of 4-5 month appraisal of the task ahead, to bond with players, instigate a system he expects them to adopt and see exactly who he wants and does not want next season. Due to this he must hit the ground running and there will be no excuse for the kind of performances we have been having during this time.
After hearing Fullkrugs post match interview. 100% think a number of players know they are out the door, if you have no motivation against Southampton and potentially playing for a contract to stay on, I think its safe to assume a number of players are done with this club.

On the other hand, that's not a good way to present yourself to prospective clubs.
Mathematically in theory we are the only team who can be caught and relegated. This involves Ipswich winning all their games by a few goals and us losing all ours the same. The former is unlikely and the latter more than likely. We play them at their place on the last Sunday. Would make good television but bad for our nerves.

There is no way this scenario would happen so no need to worry. Ipswich are down.

It seems to me Potter has also written the rest of the season off, and is using the run in to have a look at certain players, tactics, plays etc. I can imagine if he’s already mentally said goodbye to half the squad, his engagement on the touchline would be less than effusive -not that I remember him ever being the most sanguine of managers. I don’t reckon we’ll see an increase in the emotional investment of certain players or Potter in any of the remaining games. I do agree, though, that as soon as the transfer window opens, he’d be better off entering blue-bottomed fly mode.
Can’t see that happening if it’s true we have to sell first. Can’t see a rush for any of the players we would want to sell and those that we do sell will probably be for far less than we’d have got last summer.
